Athens, GA (HNN) – Marshall’s duo of No. 35 Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna lost in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Doubles Championship Tournament as the No. 7 Clemson pair of Josipa Bek and Ina Hadziselimovic won in straight sets (7-6, 6-4) Thursday evening, May 27 at the University of Georgia.

MU stood toe-to-toe with one of the best doubles teams in the country as the first set was decided by a tie-break. The Tigers narrowly took the set as they won the tie-break eight points to five.

The Herd tandem put up a valiant effort in the second set as well. Down 3-1, MU won two of the next three games to climb within one, down 4-3. However, Clemson would take two of the final three games, and eventually win the match, advancing to the Sweet 16.

Kissell and Zaprazna finish spring competition with a record of 11-7 and 21-8 overall during the 2009-10 season. The First-Team All-Conference USA doubles pairing had the highest conference ranking of any duo in C-USA.
