Marshall Men’s Golf Completes Day One of the Conference USA Championship
Miller and Schambach each post a 77

Sorrento, FL (HNN) --- The Marshall University men’s golf team completed day one of the Conference USA Championship tournament at Redtail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla., on Sunday afternoon, April 25. The Thundering Herd combined for a 314 in the opening round.
Co-host UCF shot a 292 to begin the tournament on Monday afternoon and take sole possession of first place in the 11-team field.
MU was led by Bosten Miller (So., Charleston, W.Va., Capital H.S.) and Carson Schambach (So., Glen Dale, W. Va., John Marshall H.S.), each shooting a 77 on the day. Schambach’s 77 ties his average on the season.
Aaron Boggs (R-Fr., Madison, W.Va., Scott H.S.) finished the afternoon two strokes behind with a 79.
Bennett Boyer (So., Millersburg, Pa., Millersburg Area H.S.) and Nathan Kerns (Fr., Ironton, Ohio, Ironton H.S.) rounded out the Herd lineup shooting an 81 and 82, respectively.
Tulsa’s Rob Laird shot a 69 in the opening round to sit atop of the leader board at the end of day one.
The Thundering Herd continues C-USA tournament action Monday, April 26, with play set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. on holes one and ten.
