Herd Track and Field Grabs Five First Places Finishes at Ohio Invitational
MU takes 1-3 in 100 meter hurdles

Athens, OH (HNN) – Alecia Daniels, Alexis Devaul and Rachel Coaxum took the top three spots in the 100 meter hurdles among the many first places finishes that the Marshall University women’s track and field team recorded at the Ohio Invitational Saturday, April 10.
 
Along with the 100m hurdles, MU placed first in the 400 meter hurdles as Rolanda Bruce won the event with a time of 1:03.85, the 4x100 meter Relay, the high jump with Vanessa Jules and Amanda Kennedy winning the javelin.
 
Daniels captured the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.53, with Devaul just 0.09 seconds behind her in second. The Herd also went 1-2 in the 400 meter hurdles with Daniels finishing just 0.03 seconds behind Daniels.
 
The 4x100 meter relay team of Kristin Smith, Vanessa Jules, Brittany Carey and Delkira Maybin was 0.07 seconds clear of Ohio’s second place team. Jules doubled back in the high jump took first with a jump of 1.73m, and Kennedy won the Javelin with a throw of 38.60m.
 
Other notable performances were Delkira Maybin in the 100 meters and the 200 meters as she finished third and second, respectively, and Kathleen Clark placing third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.50.
 
Action continues for the Herd next weekend as MU participates in the Eastern Kentucky Invitational.
