Charleston, WV (HNN) – Despite all of the pre-election rhetoric from West Virginia Republicans about their supposed fundraising strength, the West Virginia Democratic Party outraised and outspent its counterpart two-to-one in the 2010 election cycle.

According to the final post-election campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Elections Commission and the Secretary of State’s Office:
* Democrats raised $1.433 million while the Republicans only collected $779,000
* Democrats spent $1.442 million to the Republicans $702,000
The Democrats ended the cycle with $84,000 remaining in the bank to the Republicans $98,000.

West Virginia Democratic Party Chairman Larry Puccio had the following to say:

“While there was a great deal of rhetoric before the election about which party was doing what, it is obvious from these reports that our Democratic leaders on a state and county level stayed focused on winning this election and delivered. I want to thank all of our donors, county chairs, committee members, and candidates for making this all possible.”
