Charleston, WV (HNN) - A website has gone up for voters in West Virginia who want to select their new governor as soon as possible. The West Virginia Republican Party has initiated, http://www.specialelectionnow.com, which will be a clearinghouse of information and articles requesting Gov. Manchin or Sen. Earl Tomblin call a special session of the legislature to fix Gubernatorial Succession Rules.

“It is critical that the people of the state elect their leaders,” said West Virginia Republican Chair Mike Stuart. “Very few have voted for Tomlin. Most of the state don’t even know who he is. For him to be made Governor by fiat and the misapplication of 140-year old law is a travesty of justice.”

Stuart predicts a constitutional crisis unless a special session is held. “Why does he fear a Special Session to fix this problem?”

Commenting on what would amount to about two years as an “acting” governor for Earl Ray Tomlin, Stuart stated, “having an acting Governor will not win WV any respect nor show the proper level of respect for the people of West Virginia.”

The new site also has a petition where citizens can register their displeasure and voice their support for a Special Election, to be held as soon as possible.

“This is a great opportunity for voters to participate in Democracy, and to teach our kids about how good government can work,” said Stuart. “We want to elect a governor whom our kids don’t have to read about on the Golden Horseshoe test as being unelected..”
