Just days before the November general election, rock legend and gun rights activist Ted Nugent will be appearing in Charleston to lead a rally for lifetime NRA member John Raese, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

The event will last from 1:00-3:00 and will be held at Haddad Riverfront Park along Kanawha Boulevard in downtown Charleston. The event is free to the public.

According to Politico, West Virginia Republicans are leaving no stone unturned for votes this year for Raese's campaign. Public polls show a highly competitive race, most of which show a contest that is neck and neck. Turnout is considered key in this race, which is why Nugent's visit could be so important this year.

“Across the political spectrum, you’ll see a lot of West Virginians excited about seeing Ted Nugent coming to West Virginia,” said West Virginia GOP Chairman Mike Stuart. “Ted Nugent is a multi-political-party attraction.”

Nugent was put on the map early in his career with hit songs like 'Cat Scratch Fever." He is considered a master guitarist and even his detractors admit that he is highly intelligent, both as a musician and as a hunting and gun rights advocate.

He hosts a popular television program, "Spirit of the Wild" and has an album by the same name. Nugent sits on the board of the National Rifle Association and has become the nation's leading citizenadvocate for gun rights.

"We've heard Barack Obama try to put down states like West Virginia and Pennsylvania, where people cherish their gun rights," said Stuart. "So this is a perfect opportunity, along with the election on Tuesday, to show Obama and the world that we are seriously dedicated to defending our Second Amendment rights.".

"That's why we're going to send another strong Second Amendment advocate to D.C. next week in John Raese," said Stuart. "John is a gun collector, has built a target range in Morgantown. And, as a lifetime member of the NRA, John has always loved to hunt. Apparently, Governor Manchin likes to shoot a gun in election year TV ads, but John Raese uses his rifles every year in real settings like the woods during deer season."
