Latest Rasmussen Poll Shows Raese Still in Lead Over Manchin

By Huntingtonnews.net Staff

The most recent statewide poll on the contentious U.S. Senate race between Morgantown businessman John Raese and Governor Joe Manchin indicates that Raese continues his lead over Manchin.

Rasmussen Reports conducted a telephone survey of 750 likely voters on October 12th. Raese continues his lead over Manchin by a margin of 49 percent to 46 percent, with 2 percent preferring another candidate and another 3 percent undecided.

A factor in Raese's performance in recent weeks may be the fact that many West Virginia voters seem inclined to keep Manchin in the Governor's office. A previous Rasmussen poll showed that over 50 percent of those polled wanted Manchin to remain as Governor.

Raese has been on the road from the beginning of the fall campaign, criss-crossing the state and speaking at a variety of events, such as a function hosted by the Blue Ridge Patriots Tea Party organization in Berkeley County this week. Manchin has remained mainly in Charleston, while making occasional trips to campaign.
