Wheeling – First District Republican congressional nominee David McKinley has earned the endorsement of the grassroots reform group, Mountaineers for Responsible Government.
The organization stands for limited government and fiscal responsibility.
“David McKinley’s experience in running a successful business is best suited to represent West Virginia,” said Wilda M. Lee, chair of the group. “Mr. McKinley has no interest to be a career politician.”
A civil engineer, McKinley has run his own professional engineering and architectural design firm for thirty years, having been involved in more than $1 billion in projects.
Lee lauded McKinley’s position too for a strong national defense. McKinley addressed Lee’s group in Wheeling last month, lashing out at U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to hold up funding for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. He attacked Pelosi for “loading down the bill with non-essential pet projects and bailouts” and asserted that she was “making pawns out of America’s fighting men and women” to further her own political agenda.
“David McKinley shares our conservative values,” Lee said. She was critical of his opponent in the November general election because he “did not respond to our several requests” to complete a candidate issues survey.
Concluded Lee, “the people of the First District need to send David McKinley to Congress.”
