CNN's Sanchez Praises West Virginia’s Ken Hechler for Service

Huntington, WV (HNN) – A candidate in the WV race for U.S. Senate has been praised by a CNN anchor for his lifetime of service. Rick Sanchez, who hosts “Rick’s List,” a cutting edge, aggressive, fast paced offering, named 95-year-old Ken Hechler on the Friday, July 23 edition.
Anchor Sanchez noted that Hechler has previously served 18 years as a congressman, and -- at a time when most think retirement -- he stepped to the plate and filed as a Democratic candidate to complete the late U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd’s term.
“Rick’s List” has been particularly active in exposing the Fox News reporting of a ‘clip” from a tape of a U.S. Department of Agriculture employee to allegedly demonstrate racism. As a result of viewing the full tape, Sherry Sherrod has received an apology from President Barrack Obama, the Secretary of Agriculture, and a woman identified as Cheryl Cook, who allegedly told Sherrod that the President wanted her to resign.
As a result of the Sanchez program, Sherrod has received apologizes and a new job offer.
But what about Ken Hechler?
Sanchez stated that if Hechler were to win a term in the Senate he conceivably could become the first U.S. Senator to serve at the age of 100. Of course, he has to win the election and survive the grueling schedule to reach the milestone.
Hechler, who also served as WV’s Secretary of State, ran an ad in an alternative newspaper several years ago encouraging voters to “vote naked.” The ad stated everything else had been used to motivate getting out and voting, so the tasteful “vote naked” parody underscored both the importance of voting and the importance of registering to vote.
“Rick’s Lists” airs at 3 p.m. and in prime time at 8 p.m.
