Hilgefort Named Marshall’s Fall C-USA Spirit of Service Honoree
Men’s soccer standout recognized for more than just on-the-field play

Irving, TX (HNN) – Jordan Hilgefort of the Marshall University men’s soccer team has been named MU’s 2010-11 fall recipient of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, as announced by C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky.
Hilgefort joins 11 other student-athletes from C-USA affiliate schools who are recognized for their community service efforts, along with good academic standing and their on-the-field accomplishments. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with today’s honoree’s representing the C-USA fall sports including: football, soccer, volleyball and cross country.
An All-Conference USA and All-Midwest Second-Team selection, Hilgefort guided the men’s soccer team to a 9-5-4 overall record in 2010. The outside back was tied for the most goals on the team with four and was the Oct. 4th C-USA Defender of the Week.
The Hebron, Ky., native has been just as successful in the classroom and in the community as well. A member of the Yeager Scholarship program, Hilgefort boasts a 3.79 GPA in chemistry while studying Spanish for his minor. He was an ESPN First-Team All-Academic District II selection along with being named to the C-USA All-Academic Team as well.
When he is not on the field, in the weight room or in class, Hilgefort takes time to lead the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the men’s soccer team in bible study. He is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has spent time doing multiple volunteer projects around the city of Huntington.
