Men’s Soccer Draws Even with No.14 Tulsa, 1-1
MU gains one point in conference standings

Tulsa, OK (HNN) – For the second time in as many matches, Diego Ayala found the back of the net courtesy of a Tom Jackson assist as the Marshall University men’s soccer team drew even with No.14 Tulsa 1-1 Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Complex.
 
After over an hour delay waiting for the Tulsa women’s soccer team to conclude double-overtime action with Memphis, the Herd men’s soccer team took the field and improved one point in the conference standings with the tie.
 
The Thundering Herd now stands at 7-4-3 (2-3-1 C-USA) and has seven conference points. Tulsa suffered its first tie and now has an overall record of 7-3-1, (1-1-1 C-USA).
 
Ayala tallied his second goal of the season in the 76th minute, just two minutes after Tulsa took the lead. The San Antonio, Texas native put home a free kick from Jackson to even the score.
 
The Herd’s net-minder Daniel Withrow came up huge with nine saves on the night, despite MU being outshot 20-14. Marshall held the advantage in corner kicks 3-1.
 
MU jumps back out of conference for a Sunday battle with Oral Roberts of the Summit League. The game in scheduled for a 1 p.m. EST kickoff in Tulsa, Okla.
