Tulsa, OK (HNN) – With three remaining Conference USA matches, the Marshall University men’s soccer team looks to earn three critical conference points with a win against No.14 Tulsa on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST.
The Thundering Herd (7-4-2, 2-3-0 C-USA) currently sits in fourth place in the race to the C-USA tournament hosted by Memphis. The top six teams with the most points qualify for the tournament.
The 14th-ranked Golden Hurricane enters the Friday night primetime match-up with an overall record of 7-3-0 and a conference mark of 1-1.
The Herd is coming off back-to-back overtime conference losses to Kentucky at home and No.7 SMU on the road, both by a mark of 2-1. All four of Marshall’s losses have come in overtime.
It is a key stretch in the MU schedule where the Herd will have to prove itself on the road. Marshall plays four of its final five contests away from Huntington, with its only remaining home match against No.20 South Carolina.
Friday night’s contest is a rematch of the 2009 C-USA tournament championship match in which Tulsa came out victorious for its third-consecutive tournament title.
The Herd then turns its attention to Oral Roberts on Sunday for its second-to-last non-conference contest of the season. ORU, members of the Summit League, holds a record of 3-6-2 and has been outscored 21-11 thus far.
