Hilgefort Named C-USA Defender of the Week

Irvin, TX (HNN) – Marshall University defender Jordan Hilgefort has been named Conference USA Defender of the Week for Oct. 4, as announced by C-USA officials Monday afternoon.
Hilgefort guided the Herd to two consecutive shutouts last week as MU defeated Shawneee State on Wednesday 3-0, and FIU 2-0 on Saturday in conference action.
Against the Bears, Hilgefort tallied his team-high fourth goal of the season. In a pivotal C-USA match against the Panthers, Hilgefort helped shut down FIU’s leading goal scorer en route to gaining three points in the standings.
A native a Hebron, Ky., this is Hilgefort’s first C-USA weekly honor of the season. The outside back leads MU into another huge conference match as the Thundering Herd hosts the University of Kentucky Wednesday night at Sam Hood Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
