Herd Softball Opens Fall Ball Season
Herd will hit the road to face Kentucky in its lone away fall game

Huntington, WV (HNN) – The Marshall University softball team will play eight games this fall, as it kicks off the season by hosting a doubleheader versus Ohio on Sept. 26, at Dot Hicks Field.
 
The Thundering Herd will showcase the 2011 squad in a home opener on Saturday when it squares off at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader against the Bobcats.
 
After a week’s long break, MU will make the trek on Oct. 2 to Lexington, Ky., where it will face a Kentucky squad that in 2010 made its second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Herd will play a doubleheader with a 2 p.m. start time.
 
Marshall will then return home to the friendly confines of the Dot to host a doubleheader against North Carolina State on Oct. 9 at 12 p.m.
 
Fall Ball will conclude with a tri-tournament on Oct. 10 as the Herd takes on Morehead State at 11 a.m., followed by WV State and Morehead at 1 p.m. MU closes out the tournament and the fall season with a 3 p.m. contest against WV State.
