Thundering Herd Men’s Golf Travels To Cardinal Invitational Sept. 20-21
Tournament To Feature 36 Holes On Monday; 18 On Tuesday

Huntington, WV (HNN) - The Marshall University men’s golf team heads to the Cardinal Invitational Sept. 20-21 at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. The 54-hole event gets underway with a shotgun start on Monday at 8:30 a.m. Monday’s play will feature 36 holes. The final 18 holes begin on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to the Herd, other teams scheduled to compete are Austin Peay, Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, George Mason, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Marshall’s lineup will be comprised of Kerns, Christian Brand (R-Sr., Charleston, W.Va., Capital H.S.), Bosten Miller (Jr., Charleston, W.Va., Capital H.S.), Aaron Boggs (R-So., Madison, W.Va., Scott H.S.), and Brian Anania (Fr., Hurricane, W.Va., Hurricane H.S.).
The Thundering Herd tied for eighth (853) with three other teams at the Marshall Invitational Sept. 13-14. Ohio State won the tournament with an event record 820. Nathan Kerns (So., Ironton, Ohio, Ironton H.S.) was the top finishing Marshall player as he tied for 19th (210). Kerns lowered his career best as he shot 68 in round one and round three of the tournament. Xavier’s Sebastian MacLean took home individual honors with an event record 197.
