Huntington, WV (HNN) – With preseason behind the Thundering Herd, it’s time for the Marshall University men’s soccer team to kickoff the regular season as MU hosts Xavier on Wednesday night at Sam Hood Field.

Coming off a successful training camp in which the Herd won both of its exhibition matches, Marshall is poised to improve upon a stellar 2009 season in which the club finished 10-7-2 overall.

The Herd returns nine starters from last year squad who will be looking for a dose of revenge as XU handed Marshall a 2-0 defeat last year in Cincinnati.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and gates will open one hour prior to the match. GameTracker will be available by logging on to the front page of herdzone.com. Game video will be available for fans at a later time following the match.

As a reminder, admission will be charged for all eight men’s soccer home matches this season. Adults are $5 per match and youth (under 13) and $3 per match. Season passes are available at the gate for $25 (adults) and $15 (youth). Groups above 20 fans can obtain a $2 group rate by calling the MU ticket office one day in advance at 1-800-THE HERD.

Admission is free for students with a valid MU ID.
