Huntington, WV (HNN) – The Marshall Theatre Alliance has slated four main stage shows for the 2010-2011 academic year, including a visit by a playwright.

The season starts Oct. 6-9 with “Saturday, Sunday, Monday,” set in the mid 80s in Brooklyn. Family tensions simmer over preparations for a Sunday pasta dinner, smolder at the Sunday dinner table and by Monday family love returns.

Clint McElroy will direct Neil Simon’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Good Doctor,” which runs Nov. 10-13.

On November 12, Sister Helen Prejean, whose autobiographical “Dead Man Walking” has challenged the practice of capital punishment, will be on campus for a symposium. Her Dead Man Walking School Theatre Project has become a national conversation on the death penalty. The play will be February 23-26, 2011.

For the holidays, “A Christmas Carol,” unfolds Dec. 1-4 at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse. And the Theatre Guild presents, “Cabaret,” Feb. 7-11 in the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre.

The final show is “Working,” which according to Variety renews a sense of the common spirit that someone allows us to get up daily and make it through another work week.

Tickets are $20 adults; $15 MU faculty/seniors. Call the box office 304-696-2787.
