Marshall Freshman Welcome Underway

Huntington, WV (HNN) – While the new Freshman dormitories located near Twin Towers began filling up with occupants Wednesday morning August 18, the Memorial Student Center Plaza came to life in the afternoon.
 

Welcome Week is underway on the campus with activities spanning the campus as well as Pullman Square and other Huntington venues.
 
New students and their families gathered for food and refreshments by the fountain. In addition, live music entertained them. The evening wrapped with an outdoor showing of “Iron Man II” on Buskirk Field.
 
The incoming freshman class is estimated to be 2,000 strong.
 

Thursday activities include “First Class Bash” at 6:30 p.m. on the Recreation Center Plaza and “The Ultimate Icebreaker Playfair” at 8 p.m. at the Recreation Center. Friday, Aug. 20 brings a “dive in” movie to the rec center, the Pullman Square welcome festival, and hypnotist Jason Nagle in the MSC Don Morris Room. Saturday evening, Aug. 21 features a “Glow Party” in Room BE5 of the Memorial Student Center.
 
Classes begin Monday August 23 at 8 a.m.
