Nashville, Tenn. (HNN) – Marshall University softball assistant coach Amanda Williams was named co-captain of the Tennessee Diamonds for the 2010 National Pro Fastpitch season.

“I feel honored to be named co-captain of the Diamonds,” said Williams. “We have a talented team and the city of Nashville and the people of Lipscomb have been so inviting. We hope to bring a championship to Nashville and keep the team here.”

Williams will lead the Diamonds alongside co-captain Chelsea Spencer.

Prior to being picked up by Tennessee, Williams was a member of the Rockford Thunder, who won the NPF Championship last season. She was also named a NPF All-Star for her performance in 2009.

“It is great to see Amanda reach success at this level,” said head coach Shonda Stanton. “For her to be chosen by her peers as a co-captain speaks volumes to her ability and leadership. We are fortunate to have someone of that caliber on our staff.”
