Dine Out With Marshall Advertising
Special to Huntingtonnews.net
Restaurants across Huntington are reaching out to help Marshall University advertising majors achieve their goal- compete on a national level.
Uno's and Frankie D's in Pullman Square, Fazoli's on Third Avenue and IHOP at the Huntington Mall will donate a portion of their profits to help the team raise the $10,000 needed to cover the team's travel expenses.
Team members will be distributing tokens that signal which patrons are participating in the fund raising promotions when they dine at the designated restaurants. During the week of May 30th, Uno's, will donate 20% of token profits and Fazoli's will donate 15% of token profits. IHOP will be participating, donating 20% of their token profits.
Frankie D's will be donating all profits for a pancake breakfast, cooked and served by Marshall Advertising in the upcoming weeks.
On April 24th Marshall's advertising majors won the District 5 American Advertising Federation's (AAF) National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) in Cleveland, OH. The team will advance to the national competition in Orlando, FL, June 9-12, representing the District 5 AAF including West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. The American Advertising Federation funds the travel of the five presenters, but the team needs nearly $10,000 to cover flights, lodging and conference registration fees for the remaining team members.
Janet Dooley, assistant professor advertising said, "Our team has represented the district at the national competition before, but the event has always been closer to home and easy to attend. We've never had to raise this much money in such a short window. Our alums and local agencies have been very supportive, but we still have a lot of money to raise."
The National Student Advertising Competition is governed by the AAF in Washington, D.C. Regional competitions are conducted each spring in 15 districts throughout the U.S. Winning teams and a wildcard team advance to the national level.
For over 35 years the AAF has negotiated a nation sponsor who challenges participating teams across the nation to create an innovative, original integrated strategic communications plan including marketing, research, media, creative and promotional plans.
Printable tokens for the fund raisers will be distributed in person by team members, over the internet, and at the Ad Club's fundraising bake sale outside of Rt. 60 Walmart on June 1st. When used, the tokens will provide a percentage of the profits to Marshall Advertising.
For tokens or for more information call 304-696-2734.
