Huntington's Society of American Military Engineers to Host 16th Annual Engineering Career Day at Marshall University

Huntington, WV (HNN) -- The Huntington District Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is hosting its 16th Annual Engineering Career Day Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 at the Marshall University Student Center. The opening ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Don Morris Room.
 
Selected high school students from around the tri-state will be in attendance. Exhibits will feature areas of engineering expertise and will represent more than 30 engineering firms, with workshops included. Scholarships will be awarded to promising engineering students.
 
This year's featured speaker is Robert Alexander, a former Los Angeles Rams player and one of the most celebrated athletes from West Virginia, holding state records for scoring and rushing.
 
In 1996, Alexander founded the NF@L, which is a comprehensive program dealing with the troubles facing young people every day. The program educates youth and adults alike on how to live a positive and productive life.
 
SAME hosts Engineering Career Day in conjunction with National Engineers Week, which commemorates the birth of engineering and the first U.S. engineer, President George Washington.
 
The Society of American Military Engineers is the premier professional engineering association in the United States for connecting architects, engineers and builders in the public sector and private industry, uniting them to improve individual and collective capabilities for national security.
