Benefit Concert for WV Autism Training Center Set for Sunday
By HNN Staff
Huntington, WV (HNN) — A concert benefiting the West Virginia Autism
Training Center at Marshall University will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, June
11, 2006 at Holderby’s Landing at Harris Riverfront Park.
Cindy LeGrand, early intervention coordinator with the autism training
center, said proceeds will help provide state-of-the-art services to West
Virginia children with autism and their families. Ten years ago, she said,
the rate of autism was one in 2,500. Today it is one in every 166 children.
LeGrand said the Enoch Agency, an entertainment agency, has donated its time
and talents to put on the concert, which features three bands, all of which
are playing for free. The bands are the Love Coats, The Michael P. Smith
Band and Greg O’Brien and the Spoodoo Cadillacs.
Admission is $7.50. Students with a valid Marshall University ID card will
be admitted for $5. More information is available by calling (304) 696-7140
or (304) 696-2332.
