Landfill Schedule Shortened For Holiday

By Huntingtonnews.net Staff

Huntington, WV (HNN) - Mayor Kim Wolfe’s office announced that weekly garbage pickup will remain on regular schedule throughout this week and next week. Because New Year’s Day falls on Saturday, City of Huntington residents will not see a delay in service.

The Dietz Hollow landfill, located at the end of South High Street, will operate with shortened hours on Friday, December 31. It will be open from 8 a.m. to noon, and will resume its regular schedule on Monday, January 3.

The landfill is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on the third Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. City residents may drop off one pickup truck load of trash per month into the landfill’s dumpster. People who wish to drop off trash must be driving a vehicle with a West Virginia license plate, and must show a drivers license showing proof of city residency.

Residents may also leave items other than regular weekly garbage, up to one pickup truck load per month, at the edge of their property for pickup. To schedule this special pickup, residents must call the City’s Sanitation Division at 304-696-4431 or use the City’s Citizen Support Center (http://mygovhelp.us/huntingtonwv/), clicking “Make a Request,” selecting “Trash pick-up, special request” and providing the requested information.

For more information about the landfill and trash pickup and drop-off procedures, please contact the Sanitation Division at 304-696-4431 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
