Huntington, WV (HNN) – Political newcomer Anne Yon will be sworn in as Cabell County Commissioner, Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. in Courtroom #1 at the Cabell County Courthouse.

This is the first public office for Ms. Yon, a 2004 Marshall University graduate, who beat incumbent Scott Bias. Yon , a Republican, joins Nancy Cartmill, also a Republican, on the commission, which has for a lengthy time frame been a two-for-one Democratic majority.

Incumbent Bob Bailey will continue to serve as the lone Democrat.

Bias during the campaign and lame duck status favored a commission challenge to Huntington’s occupation tax, and gave initial support to River Place recovery bonding authority. However, a published report stated that Bailey and he irritated Cartmill by voting to re-appointment individuals whose terms had not expired. Bias, however, did not succeed in hiring a relative as security guard or naming an ambulance station after his father.
