Huntington, WV (HNN) – The proposed special call meeting for passage of the synthetic marijuana ordinance will not occur.

Following an analysis from City Attorney Scott McClure of advertising notice requirements, the synthetic marijuana ordinance (second reading), synthetic marijuana resolution (forwarded to state representatives) and first reading of a synthetic cocaine ordinance will occur at the regularly scheduled council meeting, Dec. 13, 2010.

After advertisement, five days must pass before voting upon the ordinance. Based on that requirement, the special call meeting could not occur until the Thursday or Friday prior to the regularly scheduled meeting.

Council chairman Jim Insco, Public Safety Committee Chairperson Frances Jackson and Finance Chairman Steve Williams all agreed that the time frame negated the need for a special call.
