Huntington, WV (HNN) – Marshall won over Florida International University (FIU) 88-79 with improved foul shooting at Cam Henderson Center on Monday night before an attendance of 4,674.
FIU 4-1 before the game was coming off a Chattanooga 80-59 win and Marshall was coming into the game with an 80-66 loss to Louisville.
The game stayed close all evening and toward the end FIU decided to foul and with Marshall's 55.8 free throw shooting it looked like a good bet.
This night the Herd was 30-43 from the free throw for a 69.8% mark. FIU was 15-22 from the free throw line and had a 68.2 % average. Four FIU players fouled out of the game and one from Marshall fouled out.
FIU is coached by the former legendary NBA basketball player Isiah Thomas. Thomas playing 13 years for the Detroit Pistons scored 18,822 points in the NBA, was named a NBA All-Star 12 times and two time NBA champion.
