Huntington, WV (HNN) — Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State will host its annual holiday open house and lighting ceremony Sunday, December 5 and give the gift of light and love to families of sick children.

Open to members of the community, refreshments and tours of the Ronald McDonald House will be available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Ronald McDonald himself leading the lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

The Light the House ceremony is made possible each year by individuals and businesses across the Tri-State who make donations to have a Christmas light illuminated at the house.

“During the holidays, it is particularly difficult to have a hospitalized child and to be away from home, family and friends,” said RMH Executive Director, Tanyia Oakley. “We are therefore thankful to all those who are making it possible for us to bring the light, hope and spirit of the holidays to the Ronald McDonald House of Huntington once again this year.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State has served as a home away from home for more than 10,000 families of critically ill children across southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio for more than 22 years.

Light the House donations are still being accepted and may be mailed to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State, Attn: Light the House, 1500 – 17th Street, Huntington, WV 25701. Information is also available by calling 304-529-1122.
