Logan, WV (HNN) – Aracoma coming down. About 3 a.m. Thanksgiving morning hopes of restoration of the iconic coal county hotel with a hand in 60s presidential politics fell into the street.

Owners had planned to rebuild the existing Aracoma minus the burned out top floor. But structural damage overcame the wishes of the owners, town officials and residents. With a large chunk of the former hotels side resting on the street, the owner is on his way back to Logan. This time he’s looking for a demolition contractor that will work on Thanksgiving.
