Chat ‘n Chew Has Packed Agenda for Thursday
Micro-Grants Now Available

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Create Huntington’s Chat ‘n Chew offers discussions Thursday, Nov. 18, ranging from creative projects to a dog park and encouraging people to show locally owned business.
Open to anyone, the group meets from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Frederick Building, 940 Fourth Avenue.
Here are some of the highlights , as provided by Create Huntington:
· Calling artists and artisans We are in the early stages of organizing a meeting of local artists and artisans who would like to sell their products in a gallery expected to be open in early/mid 2011. Please come to a Chat ‘n Chew for details or email thomas_mcchesney@yahoo.com.
· CAFE Huntington Do you want to learn about how you can raise money for your creative project? Stop by the Chat ‘n Chew to hear about the next CAFÉ Huntington dinner. For information, go to www.cafehuntington.com or Facebook: CAFÉ (Creative Arts Funding Endeavor).
· DogPark. Get an update on progress with the dog park and learn how you can help make it happen. ALSO: they will be having a fundraising pancake breakfast at Frankie D’s on Nov 20th. Get your tickets in advance at the Chat ‘n Chew this Thursday.
· The Culture Center. Join us to hear about how you can get involved in this exciting program. For details, see www.huntingtonculturecenter.org or Facebook: Huntington Culture Center.
· The redevelopment of Heritage Station is underway. Come to the Chat ‘n Chew this Thursday to get a heads-up on some of the first shops to open at Heritage Station. If you are an artist, artisan, or entrepreneur be sure to stay tuned for more information. You may contact Tyson Compton, Director of the CVB, or Stacy McChesney (stacy.mcchesney.firefly@gmail.com) at any time for details on the redevelopment.
· A new group is forming to work on promotion of the 3/50 Project, an initiative to encourage people to shop at locally owned businesses. They’re looking for your ideas and help. For information go to Facebook: The3/50Project or www.the350project.net.
· The graffiti removal project is moving forward. The team has raised money and product, and is looking for more volunteers to help with the work.
· Community Gardens and HARC. These teams are continuing their great work maintaining gardens and parks across town. They NEED VOLUNTEERS!
· Huntington DNA After an absence of several years, a new Huntington Downtown Neighborhood Association held its first meeting on November 1st. Join us to learn about how you can get help make downtown a fantastic place to live. For details, go to Facebook: Huntington DNA.
NEED MONEY FOR YOUR PROJECT?
Create Huntington and CAFÉ Huntington can provide “micro grants” for your local improvement project.
Create Huntington will make matching micro-grants up to $250 for community members to receive training or attend conferences that enables them to better serve the community. The matches are on a 1:1 basis, so the applicant(s) would be supplying $250 themselves for a total grant of $500. http://createhuntington.com
