Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs at Cabell Huntington Hospital Receive Certification

Huntington, WV (HNN) - Cabell Huntington Hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have received recertification through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
The hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation program began in 1973 and is used to help cardiac patients recover quickly, improve their overall physical and mental functioning and regain their independence after a cardiac event or procedure. Specialists in the program are trained to develop an individualized plan of care for a patient that includes cardiovascular exercise, nutritional counseling, tobacco cessation, stress management and risk factor modification.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a multi-disciplinary program of care for patients with chronic respiratory impairment (COPD, asthma, restrictive diseases, etc.) that is individually designed to optimize physical and social performance. Cardiovascular exercise, nutritional counseling, tobacco cessation, medication management and breathing techniques are among the components to a comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation plan.
