Huntington, WV (HNN) – While many people had their eyes and ears glued to the national networks, an assortment of local candidates camped in the County Clerk’s office Tuesday night, Nov. 2. They were there to grab the returns as soon as copies were run off the machine.
Those gathered included candidates, their supporters, familiar office holders (Judge David Pancake; Prosecutor Chris Chiles; Sen. Evan Jenkins; Commissioner Bob Bailey) and media types.
Of course, the queen for the evening was County Clerk, Karen Cole, whose staff handed out the results as quickly as tabulations could be verified.
The results are not official yet, but that will be the task of the County Commission. Three precincts will be drawn for a hand count to ensure accuracy of the electronic voting machines.
Obviously, the upset of the evening came with Anne Yon winning the Cabell County Commissioners race. You’ll see through these photos, the surprises and delight of Ms. You, her husband (who’s law firm has an option on the City Hall Annex), and her crew of workers and supporters.
