Fort Gay, WV (HNN) – Although a chilly Friday, October 22, greeted participants in the Tri-River Dragway “street car” races, Mark R. Maynard, one of the organizers, termed the event “a great success.”

According to Maynard, “Some of 2009’s champions were there to defend their titles, including Daniel Napier of Wayne, WV in his ’90 Mustang GT, Mike Keesee of Lavalette, WV with his wheelstanding ’78 Malibu, and John Pannell of Louisa, KY in his wheelstanding ’67 chevelle. But the competition was tough this year.”

Winner in the Real Street(o.e. tire) class was Robert McCoy of Huntington, with his ’87 S-10 Blazer.

Winner in the Super Street(allows drag or D.O.T. slicks) was Everett Justice of Prichard, WV with his wheelstanding ’89 Mustang LX coupe and Winner of the Pro Street Class(Big Tire Class) was Robert Klassen of St. Albans. $1,000.00 was split between the 3 drivers, and each were awarded a special streetcar trophy.
