Tri River Dragway Sponsors Street Race

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Law enforcement officers target the impromptu sport of street racing, so Mark Maynard has combined a drag strip with a street race to create a safer location for competition.
Tri River Dragway, Fort Gay, sponsors the event, Saturday, Oct. 22 beginning at 6 p.m. with a showing of dragstrip vehicles. Four classes of street racing cars will compete starting at about 8:30 p.m.
“All efforts have been made to make it as authentic as real street racing,” Maynard said. Cars will gather in staging lanes to choose their opponents allowing for a little race “negotiation” before the wheels roll.
The four classes of cars are Real Street (regular street tires); Super Street (non-DOT and DOT drag tires), Pro Street (mini-tubbed) and Outlaw Street (tubbed).
