KY Silver Gloves Boxing In Ashland This Weekend

Ashland, KY (HNN) — An exciting night of amateur boxing is slated for Saturday, Oct. 23 at the old Boyd County High school gymnasium.
The Kentucky State Silver Gloves Tournament, with a Golden Gloves preview, begins at 7 p.m. Between 12 and 15 matches are scheduled.
“This will be another great night of amateur boxing in the tri-state area,” said Charlie Hanshaw, coach of Westwood Boys and Girls Club.
“There will be competitive fights throughout the night, with fighters from Ashland, Huntington and Chesapeake, as well as the Richmond, Lexington and Louisville areas,” Hanshaw added. “We invite the public to come out and see the best Kentucky and the tri-state has to offer in amateur boxing.”
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6-12 and children under age 5 are admitted free. Ringside tables are available. For more information e- mail tsgoldengloves@yahoo.com.
