Hungintgon, WV (HNN) - Take a two-hour mini-journey to another country and experience a foreign culture from the comfort of the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center during the Fall International Film Festival.

The Marshall Artists Series, Hooters and the Cabell Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau will present the festival Oct.1 through Oct. 7. The six films selected include a mix of genres, languages and cultural backgrounds, including crime dramas and coming-of-age tales from France, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

Hollywood is abuzz with the remake of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” based on the bestselling crime novel. But before the release of the new film, catch the original Swedish version and follow the hacking genius Lisbeth Salander and the disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist as they unravel the 40-year-old mystery of the disappearance of a Hariet Vanger, whose uncle lays blame on her powerful and secretive family for her vanishing.

Get a taste of high-class life in Italy by joining the adventure of the wealthy Recchi family in “I am Love.” The family is startled when its patriarch leaves his industrial company to both his son and grandson. One successor had other plans for his life and wants to follow his dreams, and the other‘s wife, a passionate caring mother, falls in love with another man.

Delve into the darker side of France with 19-year-old Malik El Djebena as he enters his first stint in prison after a string of juvenile detention sentences. As the Oscar® nominated film “A Prophet” progresses, Malik is challenged and tested by the leading gang in the prison. But as he toughens up and earns the trust of the gang leaders, he boldly begins making his own plans.

When a Colombian village troubadour’s wife dies in “The Wind Journeys,” he sets off with his accordion, fabled to have once been owned by the devil, and seeks to return it to its original owner. As Ignacio Carrillo heads off, a young boy asks to join him in his journey. Although the musician wants to retire his talents, the boy continues to ask him for lessons as they search for the man who originally shared his own skills with Ignacio.

Strong-headed 15-year-old Mia of Essex, England, leads the story in “Fish Tank,” her coming-of-age tale as she embraces her one true passion: hip-hop dance. Although she is regarded as a problem child, her mother’s new boyfriend encourages her to practice the art and express her creativity. In a world where she feels at war with everything around her, she is trying to make sense of her life.

Experience the struggles of Thuy, a 10-year-old runaway in Vietnam in “The Owl and the Sparrow.” Forced to work in her uncle’s factory, she heads to the city. She meets two lonely people while selling flowers and is determined to bring them together. As she tries to mend broken hearts and form new bonds of love, her uncle searches for her and authorities seek to put her in an orphanage.
