Huntington, WV (HNN) - Clarifying the concern expressed by Councilman Jim Ritter, Monday, Sept. 13, Del. Kelli Sobonya told HNN Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 14, that the Monday Charleston meetings were interim meetings of the legislature, not a meeting of the home rule board. Each city authorized to implement Home Rule provisions made presentations, and, according to a release from the WV Municipal League of Cities, they “hit a home run” with many legislators.

Lisa Dooley, president of the WV Municipal League, stated that the Monday meeting at the State Capitol was filled with both legislators and audience members. The Four Pilot Cities (Huntington, Charleston, Bridgeport, Wheeling) delivered plan summaries and progress.

Dooley said, the four Pilot Cities represented "hit a home run" as one Legislator told usafter the meeting. "I feel more comfortable now, after these presentations than I have ever felt about Home Rule," another Delegate told us.

The meeting struck a high note with many legislators we spoke to afterwards and those officials representing the Cities did an excellent job promoting positive images for municipalities across the state.
