Former Thundering Herd Wide Receiver Comes Back To Huntington To Headline Concert
By Huntingtonnews.net Staff
Washington, D.C. – (HNN) – Former Thundering Herd wide receiver and current urban music artist Demetrius “El Prezidino” Doss, will be headlining a concert at the V Club in Huntington, WV, to cap off the “Friends of the Coal Bowl” week on September 11th. This concert marks the first time that Doss will be performing with his live band in Huntington since the release of his Marshall University approved song “Chorus of Victoria (Marshall Version)” on Amazon.com last week.
The song “Chorus of Victoria (Marshall Version)” fuses rock and pop with an urban twist, and the song was written and co-produced by Doss for the 2010 Thundering Herd football season. Doss received approval by Marshall University president Dr. Kopp and athletic director Mike Hamrick before releasing the song, as half of all proceeds from the song will benefit The Big Green. “Chorus of Victoria (Marshall Version)” will be just one of the songs that Doss and his band has prepared to perform during their headlining set on September 11th at the V Club.
“I feel like Eminem performing in Detroit, or Jay-Z performing at Madison Square Garden. Huntington is like my second home, so coming back here and headlining a concert with my live band is very special”, he declares. Doss, whose stage name is El Prezidino, will be in Huntington from September 8th – September 12th promoting the song on radio and TV stations in Huntington and Charleston, but first up is a scheduled appearance on Up Late at Marshall this Wednesday.
“I’m excited, we didn’t have anything like this when I was at Marshall”, he laughs. Doss, who played with both Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich, and was actually the roommate of the latter, will have his song “Chorus of Victoria (Marshall Version)” played in Joan C. Edwards stadium during the WVU game on September 10th. “I was told by Marshall Officials that they are going to play the song in the stadium during the WVU game. Can you imagine how the Herd Nation is going to react when this unofficial anthem comes on, by one of their own? It’s going to be absolute pandemonium.” Tickets for El Prezidino’s concert at the V Club on September 11th can be purchased online for $5 at http://www.vclublive.com/tickets.html, or at the V Club the day of the concert.
El Prezidino is an urban music artist signed to 3Fingers Music Group, based out of the Washington D.C. area. El Prezidino has released two albums on 3FMG; the 2009 released The Illness (EP), and the June 2010 digital promo album ALMOST GENIUS ALMOST CRAZY. The Illness (EP) charted at #3 on the College Music Journal (CMJ) Hip-Hop ADDS chart for college radio in 2009.
