Wheeling, WV (HNN) – Come visit the old and the new. The Capitol Theatre in downtown Wheeling, WV will hold open house, Sept. 10 from 4-6 p.m. The event will showcase ADA upgrades (new men and women’s restrooms), as well as a new fire escape, smoke and fire detectors, a sprinkler system, and an elevator to the theatre ballroom.

West Virginia Senator Jack Yost will also be at the Theatre at 4:00 p.m. that day.

With the elevator installation providing better access to the second floor ballroom, two more volunteer work days have been scheduled for September 11, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Ballroom Cleanup and September 25, 9 a.m. -3 p.m. Ballroom painting.

“We had tremendous support previously when we asked the public for help and we hope we can count on you again. Last year more than 150 people volunteered their time and labor and for that we are deeply appreciative,” said Frank O’Brien, Executive Director of the Wheeling CVB.

O’Brien continued, “We are asking you again for your generosity. We will be cleaning the ballroom preparing it for a fresh coat of paint.”

All supplies will be provided as well as lunch to say Thank you for your time and effort. Because your work is deeply appreciated, this will be a fun day within our community. To volunteer you can sign up in advance by calling 304.233.7709 or 304.233.7000 or at the Capitol Theatre on September 11 and the 25th.
