Huntington, WV (HNN) – With words of “thanks” for the prayers and assistance in a family crisis, Mayor Kim Wolfe told HNN Tuesday, August 31, that his daughter, Mary Ellen, has been cleared to return to her desk job in Utah. The vibrant young woman had stitches removed Monday, August 30, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Mayor Wolfe drove Mary Ellen to the Columbus, Ohio, airport for the flight. She still has ten to twelve screws and extra metal used in rebuilding her heel, which caused security to check her orthopedic “boot.”
Ms. Wolfe will be a monthly commuter to Huntington, her father said. She’ll return for check-ups on the healing and to guard against infection. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tankersley treated Mary Ellen, who had been working as a stuntwoman in Missouri.
“I did not realize how debilitating this could have been,” Wolfe explained.

Her mother, Debbie, has called her “Mary the miracle maiden” and a “bionic woman”, in speaking of her recovery from the accident 19 days ago. “Dr. Tankersley provided the hands and the gift. Thank you for your prayers,” Debbie said earlier.
