Huntington, WV (HNN) – Several employees of the Foodland on Camden Road in Westmorland have been taken to the hospital. According to various media reports, they accepted payment from a customer who gave them $80 in pennies. The coins contained a white substance on them.

Four employees reportedly began feeling ill after handling the coins. Tony Hazlette, deputy chief, stated that the employees were stripped of their clothing, decontaminated, placed in haz-mat suits and taken to the hospital.

The Huntington Fire Department and Haz Mat crews evacuated and cleaned the store. But as of Monday night, police and sheriff’s investigators have yet to release details of the substance found on the coins.

A member of the Charleston F.B.I. is expected to test the substance. No customers were exposed.

Employees indicated he was a "regular."

Foodland Camden Road closed Monday night, August 30, but early speculation is that they will reopen Tuesday, August 31.
