Anniversary Of The Passage Of Women’s Right-To-Vote

Huntington, WV (HNN) - Members of the League of Women Voters, MU Women's Center and MU Women's Studies will celebrate the passage of women's right to vote with a parade and ceremony begining at tonight, Aug. 24 , at 6 p.m.
 
The event begins at Pullman Square and includes a parade from the Pullman Plaza Hotel to the Cabell County Courthouse. Parade participants will begin formation at about 6:30 p.m..
 
Prior to the parade, The River Cities Chapter of the Sweet Adeline will sing at Pullman Square and Dr. Kat Williams, President of the WV Women's Commission , will speak. Carolyn Thomas takes on the persona of Sojourner Truth for a five minute reenactment.
 
Organizations may set up tables on the perimeter of the grassy area at 5 pm. Streets will be closed off at 6 pm. Groups or individuals who want to take part in the event may contact the parade organizers at 304-696-3112, 304-710-5589, or 304-736-3287.
