Huntington, WV (HNN) – Celebrity British Chef Jamie Oliver and a contingent of producers took home an Emmy Award for their six episode series shot in Huntington, WV.
“Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,” which air in the Spring of 2010, had been nominated as best reality series. It won the award at the “Creative Arts” Emmy ceremony Saturday night in Hollywood.
“I can’t believe we won the Emmy,” Oliver tweeted.
Shot last fall in and around Huntington , WV, the show attempted to change eating habits by making citizens aware of unhealthy ingredients in the foods they regularly consume. The production included extensive footage at Central City Elementary School and Huntington High School.
Patterned after a similar show in Britain, Oliver faced intense opposition to changing school breakfast and lunch plans due to federal funding and bureaucracies. However, the greatest opposition likely came from the children who disfavored the healthier options.
