Huntington, WV (HNN) – Residents along the 2600, 2700 and 2800 blocks of 9th Avenue in Huntington may experience discolored water on Wednesday, Aug. 18, because of a maintenance project. A handful of customers along Wright Avenue may also be affected, but those few customers will be alerted individually.

The maintenance project involves replacement of a water main valve that will allow West Virginia American Water to continue offering the reliable service its customers deserve and expect.

If customers do experience discolored water, they are advised to run the faucet for one to two minutes prior to consumption. They should also avoid doing laundry and dishes until after the water is clear. If the water remains discolored after it is left running for several minutes, please contact the company’s customer service center at 1-800-685-8660.

The maintenance project is not expected to result in a loss of water service. However, if customers do experience any service issues, they are asked to contact customer service.

West Virginia American Water apologizes for any inconvenience that its customers may experience.
