Traffic Remains Limited on Huntington's Washington Avenue

Huntington, WV (HNN) – When you travel on Route 60 West (Washington Avenue), be prepared for potential bottlenecks. The normally heavily traveled connector to the West 17th Street Bridge remains limited to one lane due to the Big Eagle Fire.
The fire at West 9th Street and Washington Avenue destroyed the second floor apartments in the publishers building on July 9. At the height of the blaze, the second floor roof caved in.
Traffic remains partially blocked as contractors slowly and carefully dismantle upper portions of the unstable building. Highway blockage begins about two blocks before passing the burnt out structure.
