Huntington, WV (HNN) - At a special luncheon today at 2 p.m., members of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary will give their sixth $100,000 check to the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation to support the Children's Hospital project.
The hospital's auxiliary pledged $1 million toward the construction of the Children's Hospital and have surpassed their expectations by already raising and donating more than half of their initial 10-year pledge.
The Children's Hospital project will reconstruct the hospital's Pediatrics Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in addition to constructing a new entrance to be used for young patients. More than $6 million has been committed and donated to the Children's Hospital project.
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary has used raffle sales, gift shop sales and other fund-raisers to reach the $600,000 mark.
Members of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary are volunteers who work to support the hospital by donating their time to see that patients and visitors have a pleasant hospital experience. The group also raises money for such projects as the Children's Hospital, critical care ambulances and a major gift toward the North Patient Tower construction.
