Huntington, WV (HNN) – Some West Virginia American Water customers in Huntington may experience disruptions in service beginning early Wednesday because of a valve replacement project.

Customers in East Campbell Park, Mobile City, Clark Estates and Southeast Hills may notice lower-than-normal water pressure or even discolored water. When pressure returns to normal, customers should run their water for one to two minutes prior to consumption. If any discoloration persists, customers are encouraged to call customer service at 1-800-685-8660.

A handful of other area customers may temporarily lose water service altogether, but in that case, West Virginia American Water employees will provide notification and information via door hangers left at each affected residence.

The maintenance project is to begin at midnight Tuesday and is expected to take four to eight hours. The company chose the overnight hours because that should have the least impact on the affected customers. The goal is fully restore water pressure by 8 a.m. Wednesday at the latest. The project will allow West Virginia American Water to continue offering the reliable service its customers deserve and expect. The utility apologizes for any inconvenience that its customers may experience.
