Huntington, WV (HNN) - Hite Saunders Elementary students are joining in the fight against cancer by raising money and walking the Beech Fork State Park Fitness Track on Friday, June 4, beginning at 9:45 a.m.

The school is holding a “Mini-Relay” which is an abbreviated version of the American Cancer Society’s national signature activity, "Relay for Life".

Students will be collecting donations throughout the weeks of May 24 – June 3 and will walk the track for one mile.

“It’s a great opportunity for the students to make an impact in the community as well as become knowledgeable about cancer," says Mrs. Brenda Horne, Hite-Saunders Principal and “Mini-Relay” coordinator. "The students feel good about themselves knowing they are doing something to help others.”

All money raised by the Hite-Saunders students will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

"Relay For Life" will take place June 11 in Barboursville Park. The money raised by the Hite Saunders students will be donated to "Relay For Life" in the name of their school.
