Huntington, WV (HNN) – Golfers and community members across the Tri-State are set to turn out for the Fifth Annual Fifth Third Bank Ronald McDonald House Charities Open.

As one of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State’s largest annual fundraisers, the Charities Open, which kicks off with a Fiesta de Amor-themed dinner, dance and auction on May 22 and ends with tournament play on May 24, is sold out. “We are thrilled for the response to this year’s Charities Open,” Ronald McDonald House Executive Director, Tanyia Oakley, said. “This event provides critical funding that supports our mission to care for families of seriously ill children who come to us during critical times of need. As a community-supported organization, we cannot give enough thanks to the businesses and individuals throughout the region who back us so strongly.”

The Fiesta de Amor dinner, dance and auction, set for Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m., will feature live entertainment from one of the East Coast’s top dance bands, The Wallers. Additionally, a wide variety of silent auction items, which include tickets to the Regis and Kelli show and V.I.P. trips to Napa Valley, the 2011 Masters and the 2011 Kentucky Derby, will be up for bid.

Golfers, led by Ronald McDonald himself, will then tee off at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 24. A pre-tournament lunch, a gift package valued at approximately $100 and a cocktail buffet following tournament play will be provided to participants.

Both segments of the event will be hosted at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington. Proceeds, which fully support Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State’s mission of caring for the families of seriously ill children, are anticipated to reach $50,000.

Standby dinner, dance and auction reservations as well as golf foursome registrations are still being accepted by calling Tanyia Oakley at 304-529-1122. Registrants will be put on a waiting list in the event of a cancellation.

In addition to the Ronald McDonald House Charity Open’s primary sponsor, Fifth Third Bank, dinner dance sponsors are Advantage Toyota and Clear Channel Radio with Big Sandy Superstores.

Located at 1500 – 17th Street in Huntington, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State has served as a home-away-from-home for more than 9,700 families of critically ill children across southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio for more than 20 years.
