Huntington, WV (HNN) -- A portion Fourth Avenue will be one lane for the next two weeks due to construction. Beginning Monday, May 10 eastbound traffic between Eighth and Ninth Street and beginning May 17, the westbound traffic will be shut down (as the east bound lanes reopen).
WRIGHT'S
Surprise --- George H. Wright closed prior to Christmas and it brought tears to many eyes. Well, it’s smiling time. After remodeling and reinvention, Wright’s will be reopening soon at its landmark location anchoring the Frederick Building. According to the report, the use of the second floor will be virtually eliminated and while retaining traditional high-end fashion, additional choices will be added. The store will carry men's and women's wear. Yes, they will still carry men’s suits.
NO TUESDAY OPEN HOUSE
The Mayoral Open House originally scheduled at Frostop at 1449 Hal Greer Boulevard on May 11 has been postponed for Election Day. The Open House schedule will resume on May 18 at the Mayor’s Office, room 8 at City Hall, 800 5th Avenue.
SUMMER SYMPHONY
The Huntington Symphony Orchestra’s Picnic with the Pops holds the first of three summer concerts June 12 with a “Come Aboard the Disco Party Cruise” at Harris River Front Park. Their second concert, July 21, is “The Big Kahuna” and the final performance will be “An All American Beach Party” August 21. For ticket information, phone (304) 781-8343.
FRESH HUNTINGTON’S KITCHEN
Continuing the healthy food tradition introduced by Jamie Oliver, Huntington’s Kitchen (across from Pullman Square) holds a fresh farmer’s market Thursdays from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Vegetables, fruits and herbs are available. (And not to bloat, err gloat, but now Charleston has been named the second fattest city in the U.S. per a men’s magazine.
