Huntington, WV (HNN) – No sooner than 36 hours after commencement speeches, tassel tosses, and celebration parties, the Marshall University campus switches to summer term mode. Though activities other than classes diminish, a new restaurant has opened in the rear portion of the Memorial Student Center Cafeteria.

The full-service Starbucks has been in operation for about a week. It has all the moca favorites you anticipate as well as wireless internet, comfortable chairs in which to chat, and a full line of deserts. You’ll have to be an early bird ; it will be open for breakfast and lunch closing at about 2 p.m. Monday-Friday (no Saturday /Sunday summer hours).

Come fall, when the complete compliment of MU’s student body returns, Starbucks likely will be the new ‘cool’ on campus.

Meanwhile, the buffet, grill, Pizza Hut, and Chic-Fil-A portion of the cafeteria --- including the atrium that overlooks the Memorial Fountain --- has shut for a full revamp. The first significant construction will be removal of asbestos from that portion of the cafeteria. Sweet Sensations will also be taking the summer off too, as will the mini-coffee and snack shop on the side of the Drinko Library.
